He graduated with a Doctoral Degree in Literature and later became a doctoral supervisor in this field. He joined the CPC in January 1993, and is at present President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC committee of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). He mainly teaches and studies Ancient Chinese, Chinese grammar, the history of Chinese grammar, and the history of Chinese lexis.
